happy first day of spring!

so i woke up today feeling icky. runny nose, scratchy throat… it’s so not fun. i think all of my adventures have finally caught up with me. hooray! so today i’m going to take some medicine and relax. it’s kind of fun the first day being sick…you can relax and rest and you have an excuse! but after that, i’m over it. happy first day of spring to me!

it’s still snowy outside here in wisconsin. theres still 6 foot high snow drifts in my friends yards and right now it’s 9 degrees out. and i THINK it’s supposed to snow again tomorrow.  on days like this, i like to dream about how wonderful spring and summer are going to be. i’m hoping for bike rides, pool parties, zoo trips, picnics…oh there is so much to do once the snow melts! but for now, i’m going to sit here and look at some photos of a place that IS warm: mississippi. i had so much fun down south last week. so many hugs from my niece, coffee with my parents, chats with friends…it was the perfect escape from the snowy north.

so i’m back from my travels. there’s nothing like going away for some days, and there’s nothing in the world like coming home. i’m trying to figure out life now without a job to go to and what it means to live life out of a new space. i feel like there are so many wonderful projects to do around here, and i cant wait to share some with you…

life this…week.

so, i’m back in the snowy north. it was so nice to be down south and have a chance to thaw out for a week. now today, i’m packing my bags again to head to Minneapolis for a couple of days away with my sweet husband. i have so much to share with you when i get back!! but for now, here’s a few photos from the past few weeks…

winter…

okay. i’m about to be really open and honest about my feelings. are you ready? are you sure??? here goes… i am SO tired of the winter. i’m tired of being cooped up in our house. i’m tired of dreary days. i’m tired of snow. i’m tired of the sun setting at 4 p.m. i’m tired of the cold. i think there comes a time every winter that i long for sunny, hot, long days. today is one of those days. winter has been here long enough and it can go away now!

i’m finished with my complaining now. i hope that you enjoyed it!! in an effort to see some sunshine, i just looked through some photos i took of our trip to Hawaii two years ago! We went with our families as kind of a post wedding getaway for all of us. and it was much needed! but i didnt get a lot of photos (unfortunately). we’ll be going back again, so i did not think it was THAT big of a deal…but now i wish that i had taken my camera with me on every adventure!

hawaii 5i did happen to capture a couple of photos, so that’s nice i guess.

i hope you enjoyed this little hawaiian tour. it’s nice to look back at warmer times and know that they are coming again. here’s to springtime being right around that corner…

happy friday…

i have to be honest… i had some wonderful ideas of a fun post today, but i have a terrible headache and i ‘m tired because i had to wake up at 4:45 this morning to go to work, and all i really want to do is go someplace warm and get out of the cold. i’m tired of the cold. but i know that in 6 months i’m going to be tired of the heat. so, there’s that. so to make your day more happy, here’s a picture i took of a street musician in New Orleans.

have a good friday y’all!

p.s. the pigeon in the photo makes me so happy…

october…

it’s october!! my favorite month of the year! i just love october… the leaves, the crisp air, the smell of cinnamon and cloves, the taste of apple cider. it’s just the perfect season. i’m taking this month to work on me. to get back in shape, to rest mentally and emotionally, to figure out me again. it’s going to be great. i’ll keep you all posted on how everything goes…

anyway…we went to an apple orchard on monday!! it was such fun!! and i might have fallen in love with some goats. yes, goats. they are so sweet and cute! and i even got head butted by a kid!

yes, we caved and got a caramel apple. and we might have gotten one for the road that is waiting to be eaten! we are so excited to do so many more fun things for fall…some of which we hope become traditions! what are some of your favorite fall activities?!

i’m baaack!!

dear friends…

things around these parts have been so hectic lately! i have been out of town, sweet david gave me a wonderful, wonderful birthday weekend, and we have been trying to get our new apartment in order (it’s only taken two months!). it seems like life just wont slow down on it’s own, so i’m taking the time right now to force it to go a little slower. it is so nice to stop everything and think about the past few weeks, and to get excited for the coming of fall! it’s by far my favorite season!

one of my out of town trips took me down south to mississippi to see my family! it was a great time celebrating my birthday and my future niece! we ate so much cake and laughed and told stories and shared life. it was a magical time. i took plenty of photos while i was gone, so here is a little tour of my parents yard and house. i grew up in this house, and my mom did too! it has been in our family for three generations! this home is full of love and memories…i hope that david and i have a house like this one day for our children to call home…

there is so much more southern charm to come…
